
Operation Sindoor:
- On 7 May 2025, the Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out an air strike on nine terror groups in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) at 1:44 am (IST) in an operation codenamed “Operation Sindoor”. The action was in response to the terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir’s first district on 22 April 2025, in which 26 people, mostly civilians, were killed. India blamed Pakistani terrorist groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Uddhav el-Taiba for the attack.

- Indian airforces launched 24 combat missiles, including BrahMos, SCALP (Storm Shadow) cruise missiles, and loitering munitions.
- Pakistan said 31 people were killed in the attack, including children and women.
- It is being suppressed by Pakistani media. Eight civilians have been confirmed dead and 35 injured.
- Pakistan claimed that the Subhan Abbas Mosque in Barhpur was demolished, which was rejected by India.

- Pakistan closed the airspace over Lahore and Karachi for civilian disarmament.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has alerted his army to take “action of war” or give a befitting reply and threatened to give a “strong response”.
Indian Civil Defense Training:
- (India) In Lucknow, on 5-6 May, people were also given training for their own safety and protection, like how to keep yourself safe and how to take care of people in a war situation.
- On 7 May, civil defence began in seven states (Jammu-Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat).
- The airports of Jammu, Leh, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Dharamsala, and Jodhpur were closed.
UN Response:
- The United Nations appealed to both countries for “maximum restraint”. War can be stopped.
- Foreign Minister “Marco Rubio” appealed for peace to India and Pakistan.
- “I hope it’s over soon,” President Donald Trump said.
